Mexican Evening Primrose aka Pink Lady

from $50.00

Botanical Study

A single flower species, pressed and mounted on handmade watercolor paper with a collection label giving its scientific name, family, and where and when it was gathered. The bloom may appear as one flower or a small cluster, depending on how the plant grows. This format shows the structure and botanical detail of one species clearly, which makes it a good place to start a collection or build a gallery wall over time.

Choose matted or framed, in three sizes. Matted pieces come in an off-white archival mat, no frame or glass, cut to fit the standard frame of that size from any frame shop: Small 8×10 ($50), Medium 11×14 ($70), Large 16×20 ($110). Framed pieces come in the same mat inside a natural wood or oak frame with hanging hardware attached, ready to hang: Small 8×10 ($120), Medium 11×14 ($160), Large 16×20 ($250, with UV-protective glass).

Every piece is one original pressed specimen on acid-free, archival 320 gsm handmade watercolor paper. The mat shade varies slightly from piece to piece, chosen to suit the specimen, and because each is a real plant, yours will differ slightly from the one pictured. Matted pieces ship flat in a rigid mailer.

Hang it out of direct sunlight, and if you frame a matted piece yourself, ask for UV-protective glass. Pressed plants soften in color over the years, though never in form; I think of that as part of the piece, the way a meadow looks different in September than it did in June.

Gathered responsibly from my home garden, my mountain cabin, or the wild with permission, following ethical foraging guidelines and Honorable Harvest principles. Learn more about my approach to wildflower harvesting and conservation here.
