Art rooted

THE WORK

01

I'm Christina Selby — the artist behind Eufloria Botanic Art. My work lives at the intersection of art, science, and place. Each piece begins not in a studio, but in the field — gathered by hand from the mountains and meadows of the American Southwest.

THE STORY

The ecology
of a wildflower.

Every piece carries provenance: a specific plant, a specific place, a specific day. None of it is reproducible. None of it is decoration.

With a degree in Ecology and a background as a conservation photographer and writer, I bring a deep understanding of landscape to each piece — not just an eye for beauty, but a grounding in the relationships between plants, soils, seasons, and the broader web of life that makes a wildflower possible.

Each piece begins in the field. I gather plants by hand from the mountains and meadows of the Jemez Mountains, the high desert around Santa Fe, and the wider landscapes of the Southwest — pressing them using the same meticulous methods as museum herbaria, then mounting them on handmade watercolor paper and composing them into framed originals and botanical paper goods.

Whether a single specimen or a composition of many, each piece carries the ecology of a specific place and season. Each piece is a story of a place. Through Eufloria Botanic Art, I create art that honors our enduring, often forgotten bond with the natural world.

How Each Piece Is Made

From meadow
to wall.

01
Gathered by hand

Ethically wildcrafted from the Jemez Mountains, the high desert around Santa Fe, and the wider Southwest — collecting only what is abundant, following Honorable Harvest principles.

02
Pressed six weeks minimum

Using the same meticulous methods as museum and university herbaria. Six weeks or longer to preserve color, texture, and the organic character of each specimen.

03
Mounted by hand

Each specimen arranged on acid-free handmade watercolor paper. Collection labels note the plant's scientific name, common name, location, and date gathered.

04
Archivally framed

Framed to last with thoughtfully sourced materials. Each piece is unrepeatable: this plant, from this landscape, gathered on one particular day.

JEMEZ MOUNTAINS OF NEW MEXICO

ROOTED IN THE SOUTHWEST

The landscapes
that shape the work.

I live and work between Santa Fe and the Jemez Mountains of New Mexico — places I return to often. The high desert mesas, montane meadows, the arroyos and grasslands that stretch between.

New Mexico's remarkable plant diversity has shaped everything about my practice. More than twenty years here has deepened my knowledge of these landscapes in ways that inform every piece in the studio.

High desert mesas & lowland bajads, Santa Fe

Montane meadows & forest understories, Jemez Mountains

Arroyos, grasslands & riparian corridors, broader Southwest

who explains nothing and defends
nothing, but only knows
where the rarest wildflowers
are blooming, and who goes,
and finds that he is smiling
not by his own will.”

- Wendell Berry

WHAT THIS WORK STANDS FOR

Art that honors
our bond with
the living world.

Ethical Wildcrafting

Only what is abundant. The needs of the ecosystem stay at the center of every gathering. Conservation partnerships with named organizations translate that commitment into action beyond the studio.

Genuine Provenance

This particular plant. From this particular landscape. Gathered on one particular day. No two pieces are alike — not in spirit, and not in fact. Each work is truly unrepeatable.

Meaning over Decoration

The goal is not to replicate nature, but to distill it. To close the distance between our daily lives and the living world that sustains us. If a pressed blossom pulls you closer — the work has done what it set out to d
