This listing is for a real pressed plant and botanical specimen. Yellow owl-clover (Orthocarpus luteus) is a small annual wildflower with slender stems, narrow leaves, and dense spikes of bright yellow, hooded blossoms tipped with purplish bracts. Blooming in late summer, it grows in meadows, prairies, and open slopes across western North America. Like paintrbrushes, it is a hemiparasitic plant, drawing nutrients from nearby grasses. Collected in meadows of the Jemez Mountains.

The plant is mounted on acid-free, high-quality, watercolor paper handmade in India. A collection label is also included with the specimen’s scientific name, common name, family name, location and date collected. The placement of the collection label varies on each piece, depending on best spacing. Each flower is different, so the wildflower you receive may look different from the one pictured in this listing.

Select an Option: Sheet only, Matted, or Framed

Please indicate the following preferences when ordering matted and/or framed option:

Mat Color: Wheat, Sky Blue, Ivy Green

Frame Style: Natural Wood, Vintage Gold

The plant has been pressed for a minimum of 6 weeks in accordance with professional herbarium standards to maximize the quality and longevity of its color. Please note that, as with all dried plants, these are susceptible to fading or changing color over time. The speed and degree varies from plant to plant, but all will eventually take on a nice vintage look. Hang them out of direct sunlight and moisture to extend their color.

The plants were collected responsibly, sustainably, and honoring nature in the process. See this blog post for more information on my ethics on wildflower collection.
