Botanical Study Sets

The same place, in a suite. Four to twelve species from one landscape, each given its own mount — collected together, displayed together.

Jemez Mountain Meadow Wildflowers

6 SPECIES SUMMER 2025

9000’

A Botanical Study Set is what happens when you want more than one plant can tell. Each set brings together four to six species from a single place — the Jemez Mountain meadows, the Rio Grande Bosque, the high desert around Santa Fe — each specimen mounted individually on its own sheet of handmade watercolor paper, presented together in one frame.

This is the collector's version of a landscape. Not one plant isolated for close looking, but a small community of plants the way they actually grow — near each other, in the same soil, under the same sky.

BOTANICAL STUDY SET

The same place, in a suite

Four to six species from one landscape, individually mounted, framed together. Each plant its own moment — read as a collection.

BOTANICAL LANDSCAPE

The same place, on one sheet

Multiple species composed together on a single sheet of watercolor paper. One unified scene. A statement work, a single focal point.

MADE TO ORDER

Your place,

your plants

Choose a landscape you love — the Jemez Mountains, the Rio Grande Bosque, high desert of Santa Fe — then choose the wildflowers already collected and pressed and I'll build the set for you. You bring the place. I bring the ecological knowledge of what grows there and why.

A NOTE ON MADE TO ORDER AVAILABILITY

Made-to-order sets are available in summer and fall, when I am actively in the field. I take orders when the plants are blooming — which means the set you receive will be as current as the season itself. Contact me to check availability and discuss your landscape.

HERBARIUM LABEL

THE IDENTIFICATION LABEL

Every specimen documented

Every plant in a Botanical Study Set carries a label: common name, scientific name, plant family, location, date collected. This is the herbarium tradition — the same documentation practice used by museum collections and botanical gardens for centuries.

The label is not an afterthought. It is what makes a set a record, not just a decoration. When someone asks about the piece on your wall, you will know exactly where that plant grew and when it was gathered.

All plants are ethically wildcrafted from wild landscapes across the American Southwest following Honorable Harvest principles. I never collect from populations too small to sustain a harvest, and I never press rare or threatened species.

The plants in your set are gathered during a specific season, from a specific place. They exist in this one piece and no other.
