Botanical Landscapes

A single meadow in the Jemez Mountains in late June holds a story bigger than any one plant can tell. The Rocky Mountain Iris has come and gone. The cinquefoil is just opening. The harebells are silently ringing. For a brief window, they share the same ground.

That community is what a Botanical Landscape captures — several species together on a single sheet of handmade watercolor paper, each pressed from the same place, in the same season, composing a moment that will not happen again in quite that way.

Every plant is hand-gathered from the wild landscapes of northern New Mexico or the greater Southwest. Each species is identified by common and scientific name on a label affixed to the work. The place and season of collection are part of the piece.

BOTANICAL STUDY

made for your place

If you have a landscape in mind — a place you love, a property you want documented, an ecosystem you want to carry home — I will work with you to create a Botanical Landscape from that place. I gather the plants, compose the piece, and document every species for the identification label.
