Field Notes: The Archive

Field Notes is where the living world behind the art gets its own space. Each edition goes somewhere specific — a plant, a place, a season, or a question that came up in the field. Some editions profile a single artwork. Others trace the ecology of a mountainside, the process of pressing a particularly difficult specimen, or the story of a piece from the moment of gathering to the moment it found a home. I write it from my studio in Santa Fe and the mountains and high desert I gather from — the Jemez Mountains, Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the high desert of Santa Fe, and forays throughout the Southwest, the places that show up in finished pieces. It arrives with new artworks, without a schedule and without a sales pitch. The work appears when it's ready. I enjoy making these, I hope you’ll enjoy reading them!
